How a hospitality leader cuts costs while elevating security and their focus on customers

Creating unforgettable experiences often comes down to the little things, from the pattern of the tablecloth to the final pixels of a presentation. For a prominent US-based hospitality group (who prefer to remain anonymous), this commitment to perfection extends beyond elegant centerpieces into an often-overlooked area: cybersecurity.

Operating over 10 offices, managing nearly 320 endpoints, and supported by a small but dedicated IT team, this group is renowned for their unparalleled attention to detail and flawless event execution. But behind the scenes, cracks were forming.

Challenge | Legacy solutions threaten to slow a fast-paced business 

When the shift to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic pushed the hospitality group’s team to move from on-prem servers to cloud services like Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365, managing IT operations got a whole lot easier. But with this change came new security challenges that their existing security provider just couldn’t handle.

  • Excessive costs: The legacy provider’s pricing was nearly double Huntress’. Adding necessary new features would’ve skyrocketed expenses further, making the solution unaffordable.  

  • Delayed response times: Threat notifications often took up to 45 minutes to arrive, creating dangerous situations in critical, time-sensitive cyberattacks like ransomware.

  • Reliance on third-party tools: The legacy vendor’s dependence on outdated, outsourced solutions led to inefficiencies and bottlenecks, hindering the group's ability to respond to threats effectively.

  • Frequent false positives: The vendor regularly triggered false alarms, consuming the IT team’s valuable time and adding unnecessary stress to their overall security operations.

  • Manual remediation challenges: Without automated remediation tools, the hospitality group’s IT director and his small team were forced to dedicate countless hours to manually investigating and resolving issues. This time-consuming process took them away from other essential, high-priority tasks.


Once Huntress is set up, I don't have to worry. If something pops up on a machine, it’s auto-remediated or isolated so I don't have to be watching all the time or constantly be in a position to remediate things myself.

Huntress solution | Comprehensive security that fits right in

Frustrated with their existing security provider, the hospitality group turned to Huntress in early 2025, deploying the following solutions: Managed Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Managed Identity Threat Detection and Response (ITDR).

Since it’s built to integrate with Microsoft 365, Huntress fit right into the group’s existing setup with minimal hassle. The group’s IT director even described the process as “boom, boom,” taking just 15 minutes of his time.

  • Auto remediation: Huntress revolutionizes threat response by alerting users and instantly neutralizing threats before they can escalate. Because all Huntress solutions are designed for and managed by their 24/7 AI-assisted Security Operations Center (SOC), detections and responses are swift and agile. 

  • Faster response times: Unlike the legacy vendor’s solutions that created delays between detection and manual intervention, Huntress automates remediation, cutting response times from up to 45 minutes to less than 10 minutes for most incidents. As the IT director puts it, “By the time I’m notified, the remediation is already complete.”

  • Comprehensive threat detection: Huntress does more than just catch standard malware and viruses. It spots suspicious files, warns the IT team about unencrypted password files, and flags unusual activity like “impossible travel,” which could mean an account is compromised. 

  • Minimized false positives: Unlike the legacy vendor that flooded the hospitality group’s team with old, irrelevant alerts, Huntress cuts through the noise and provides insights they can actually use. The IT director says eliminating those “ghost alerts” has saved a “ton of time,” letting the team focus on real threats. In fact, Huntress has a false positive rate of less than 1%!

In just a few months, Huntress helped reinvigorate the hospitality group’s security through some major improvements.

  • Streamlined deployment: The hospitality group's IT team onboarded all endpoints in under 24 hours, with minimal effort needed. 

  • Less money: Huntress saves the hospitality group money, costing about 40% less than the legacy vendor while still delivering more powerful features, like 24/7 real-time threat detection and auto-remediation.

  • Faster remediation: Response times dropped from a high of 45 minutes to less than 10 minutes for most incidents. 

  • Improved employee productivity: Auto-remediation minimizes manual intervention, so the hospitality group’s small IT team can now focus more on strategic initiatives. 

  • Stronger visibility: Huntress’ agent gives them unmatched insight into endpoint and identity-based activities, detecting risky software installations, password files, and impossible travel login attempts. 

One standout example of Huntress’ impact came within hours of deployment, when their system spotted and stopped a business email compromise attack that the legacy vendor had completely missed. The IT director remarked, “We were able to act on it quickly. [The legacy vendor] never even alerted me.”
